Verde Volume 19 Issue 4 "The figurative but physical gunshot that pierces our magazine, visible every time you flip a page in our print magazine, aims to convey gun violence affects every part of life, and its consequences are inescapable. We realize that the hole might be jarring, but we believe such statements are necessary to confront disturbing realities. In Issue 19.4, Verde covers the student response at Palo Alto High School to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in the cover story, "Up in arms." We also recognize that for many people across the country, including some here at Palo Alto High School, guns represent safety and freedom. Our cover package also seeks to elucidate the perspectives of these individuals in the story "Unloading Stereotypes." Additionally, after a lockdown at our own school, Verde staff reflected on the experience in "Locked Down.""
